Patricia Macdonald

Patricia Macdonald BSc PhD FRSE FSA((Scot) HonFRSGS HonFICS is an Honorary Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, and an environmental researcher and award-winning artist-photographer specialising in aerial imagery in both artwork-led and editorial contexts (in collaboration with Professor Angus Macdonald, also University of Edinburgh). Her work is widely published, exhibited and held in collections internationally, including Hood Museum, USA; Chinese Photographers’ Association, China; Museet for Fotokunst; Victoria & Albert Museum; National Galleries of Scotland; Deutsche Bank; Citibank.

Publications include: Shadow of Heaven; Order & Chaos: Views of Gaia; Once in Europa (with John Berger); Airworks; and The Hebrides, and articles in journals and magazines including FT Weekend Magazine. Her work is the subject of critical articles and comment in books including The Oxford Companion to the Photograph (Lenman, R., Ed.); Landmark: The Fields of Landscape Photography (Ewing, W. A.); Photography and Flight (Fox, W. & D. Cosgrove); Kunst Europa (Vowinckel, A., Ed.); Scottish Photography: A History (Normand, T.); A Companion Guide to Photography in the National Galleries of Scotland (Stevenson, S. & D. Forbes) and Light from the Dark Room (Stevenson, S., Ed.), and magazines including History of Photography, Katalog, European Journal of Photography, Studies in Photography, and Portfolio.
